The halibut and sablefish longline season ended at noon December 7. The final harvest numbers are as follows: 

The sablefish TAC was 60% harvested, with AI at 10%, BS at 62%, CG at 65%, SE at 81%, WG at 70%, and WY at 83%. The statewide halibut TAC was 85% harvested, with 2C at 88%, 3A at 91%, 3B at 91%, 4A at 66%, 4B at 40% and 4C/4D at 76%. See the full report here

The NPFMC held its December meeting last week. In the BSAI, the Council increased the Pacific cod TAC 16% in the BS and decreased it 4% in AI. The BS and AI pollock TACs were set at 2023 levels, as were both BS and AI sablefish TACs. In the Gulf, the Council increased the Pacific cod TAC by 31% and increased the pollock TAC by 25%. For sablefish, the Council increased the WG TAC by 5%, and decreased CG by 3%, WY by 9%, and SE by 5%. For a full meeting recap, click here. To watch recordings of the meetings, click here

HEADS UP: All Federal Fisheries Permits (FFPs) expire December 31, regardless of when they were issued. FFPs can be renewed online through your eFish account and the new permits are available to print immediately.
